Communications Representative
We are a large multi-specialty ophthalmology practice dedicated to serving the vision needs of our patients. The Communications department fulfills a vital role in scheduling patients and ensures patients are aware of their insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs. Physical requirements include the ability to sit at a desk or workspace for up to eight hours per day.

- Knowledgeable of appointing, testing and billing
- Enters and evaluates demographic information in Athena, verifies all necessary information is received
- Ensures insurance information on file is correct, verifies insurance and eligibility
- Schedules non-PEA tests such as MRI, CT Scans, ODC, etc., and obtains authorizations
- Ensures proper authorizations, eligibility and referrals are obtained and on file.
- Schedules appointments with correct physician and specialty based on patient need and insurance coverage
- Reads and understand clinical notes, and uses to schedule appointments
- Preps medical charts for same day appointments when needed
- Knows and follows end-of-day closing process
- Verifies eligibility for appointments in Athena that have not yet been verified
- Monitors and manages PhoneTree program
- Responds quickly to office e-mails
- Cross-trained for Front Desk and is able to cover when needed
