Ali A. Zaidi, M.D.
San Francisco Ophthalmologist
Dr. Ali Zaidi is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in the treatment of retinal, macular, vitreous diseases, and surgery. Dr. Zaidi strives to treat all his patients as if they were his own family.
He is a Bay Area native and grew up in Fremont, CA. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa and with honors from Stanford University, he went on to complete a medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
He then moved to the east coast to complete an ophthalmology residency and vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Scheie Eye Institute at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. While in fellowship, he received an award for excellence in teaching. Prior to joining Pacific Eye Associates in 2014, Dr. Zaidi was apart of a private retina practice in the Seattle area. Besides English, Dr. Zaidi also speaks Hindi and Spanish.
Dr. Zaidi offers comprehensive eye care as well as specialty care in macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes, and retinal detachments. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society for Retina Specialist through which he keeps up to date with the latest in eye care. Dr. Zaidi has published in major ophthalmology journals, including Ophthalmology and Retina. Dr. Zaidi is also on the faculty at CPMC and teaches ophthalmology residents
Outside of work, Dr. Zaidi enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, and world travel. He has spent extensive time in Europe, Morocco, Ethiopia, South Africa, and India.
